We set off from the port of Almeria, a group of 4×4 enthusiasts ready for adventure. Other brave people were waiting for us in Ouarzazate, where our journey through southern Morocco officially began.
The first night of the trip was in Er Rachidia, where we already felt the excitement of the accent that awaited us. We crossed the Atlas, a route with spectacular views that took us to the Todra and Dades Gorges, impressive natural formations that receive a very good score on our scale of wonders of Morocco.
With our 4x4s, we continue the adventure through Lake Iriki and Erg Chegaga, dream places that undoubtedly deserve their recognition. At this point, the “Forbidden Runway” was no longer a mystery to us. The next day we visited the small village of Ramblia, a corner of peace in the middle of the desert. We stayed in Ouzina, where the dunes became our playground at sunset, and at dawn the next day. After enjoying the sunrise in the dunes, we visit Merzouga and the Erg Chebi, reaching the set, and some the top of the great dune.
The trip continued with visits to places full of history and mystery, such as the Celestial Staircase, the City of Orion, the Golden Ring and the Portuguese Prison. We close our tour with a delicious Berber pizza in an authentic local restaurant in Rissani. But this 4×4 adventure would not have been the same without the unique experience of living it during Ramadan. This fact made even those who had already been to Morocco experience a completely different perspective. Our 4x4s were our travel companions, taking us through dirt roads, sandy rivers, stony tracks and dunes. Always with the freedom to travel with your own 4×4 or a rented one.
